Years ago when our local mall opened it had two bookstores. A Waldenbooks and a B. Dalton. Eventually both closed down. That left a Hastings in the mall. Hastings sold books, magazines, music, videos and games. Then Hastings left the mall and moved down the street to their own building. Now years later the Hastings store is closing as well. That means no more bookstores in our entire area. In fact even in the larger cities I have noticed bookstores closing down. I will miss them since I enjoyed browsing their shelves and finding some literary gem.
Easing Into The New Year
So I'm still around and getting better and stronger. My health is still an issue but I got a good handle on it. Now as for the creative front: recently when I installed Tahoma2D I found a feature I could make good use of. For those who don't know it Tahoma2D is an animation program based on the open source OpenToonz program based on the software used by Studio Ghibli. It's worth looking into because it has so many great features and has a nice drawing engine to make animation with raster or vector lines and shading. And it's FREE. What got me excited was the stop motion menu which with a webcam you can shoot frames of stop motion puppets directly into the software. I had the inspiration to use this for filming pencil animation instead of using a scanner. So with the help of browsing eBay and Amazon I got the necessary equipment to make a pencil test stand. From eBay came a copy stand and a high definition webcam. From Amazon came the hardware to adapt the camera to the copy stand. A
Update on my life
Some of you have been wondering what has happened to me. Well I'm still around and visiting once in a while. My health has been on an even keel but not at the level I like. The creative spirit is still there but the physical body is so weak. And having to deal with so much going on in my life has taken a lot of free time away from me. I still get requests to do art but I really don't want to do them. I feel like I want to explore more of the art and ideas I want to do. I am moving away from doing analog (pencil and ink on paper) and more toward digital art since some new software programs have appeared making some artistic possibilities exciting. My home situation has changed a lot in the past year. The old house our family occupied for many years has finally reached it's end. The ceiling has collapsed in places as well as the floor. Also the electrical wiring has gone out in some parts of the house along with the plumbing. So we had to buy a large house trailer to place on
Happy Birthday to my late brother, Jose.
I still think of him every year. Especially on the day of his birth. The world lost a very talented person when he passed.
The Big 66
I don't visit as often since my life is busy with many things such as maintaining my health. But I will come by as often as I can. Well it's my 66th birthday and I would like to thank all those who have left birthday wishes here. What can I say, being alive 66 years is not much different than 60 or 50 years. But still one slowly grows as a person and can look back on the past with some regrets. But I come to the point where it is history long gone and I can only hope look forward to better things. So to all those who follow me here I hope your future is bright and joyful.

Dang, that sucks. We used to have a Borders in the city I'm currently living, but that shut down, and all we have left now is Barnes & Noble, mainly.
As nice as online shopping is, the biggest flaw when it comes to selling books is that you're unable to browse through the book freely before buying it so you can determine if it's a good choice to purchase or not.
