Everything On Hold!

Journal Entry: Sun May 4, 2008, 5:07 AM
  • Mood: Daily Needs
Recently my brother Jose and I met with a talented man who runs an animation studio. He has worked with many of the great animators and directors from Disney and television productions. He even teaches animation and has trained many new talent who have gotten work at the major studios like Pixar. He heard about my brother and I through another contact and he wanted to see our work. All we could show him was our original designs and cartoon art. He wanted to see animation as well so I have decided to put aside the work on my web comic, fanart and other art for my gallery here and spend the next few weeks doing just hand drawn animation to create a demo reel that will hopefully knock his socks off. Jose will be doing 2D as well as 3D animation to show him at our next meeting.

This guy wants to create a pool of talented animators and artists to build up his studio. Currently he outsources a lot of animation work, mostly Flash and 3D. But he would rather keep the work close since he still believes in the old fashioned way of "face to face" instead of FTP when it comes to working with artists. I met one of these artists who worked for him and he is a phenomenal talent. So this is an opportunity for us to finally get a solid foothold in the animation industry. My DA page will not remain dormant during this time though. I will be posting my pencil tests and finished animations that will go into my demo reel. So wish us luck.

It's something every artist goes through. The urge to create something original rather than base their work on somebody else's ideas.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you really like my own TV series.

Well I'm concentrating more on my original concepts. I'm trying to get away from fanart for now.

Aren't you going to make a lot of "The Great Mouse Detective Adventures" series and characters?

I've made one up for example. My character's name is Charlotte Maríe. What do you think?

I made my own series that's based off the movie, "The Great Mouse Detective. It's called "The Great Mouse Detective Adventures". It's a lot like "Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers", right?

What do you think of that?

It appears on my own TV network: LKGMedia.

I remember this, it's an old one. I think I had it on VHS a long time ago. There are a few from that time I still enjoy, Panda And The Magic Serpent is one. Another one is The World Of Hans Christian Anderson. I got both on DVD but they're old TV prints.

Sorry to bother you, but here's a part of anime "Jack And The Beanstalk" that looks like a whimsical mix of anime, Disney, and Looney Tunes.:)

Then it's up to us determined animation lovers to RESCUE this beautiful miracle that would not have happened if it wasn't for filmmaking. So yes, I WILL be an animator one day to preserve the unique art of animation; the entertainment industry is slowly ruining it with such a small-minded idea of it being nothing but kiddie marketing.:P

It takes skills that are slowly dying out. It would have come to an end if Disney did not decide to revive the 2D animation department. Right now the two countries doing the most in 2D animation production is Japan and India.
